Richard Davies

A conversation with his school headmaster about his future career ambitions led to a permanent work placement at a restaurant for Richard when he was fifteen. He learned his trade in a variety of the finest country house hotels in Wales before joining Gordon Ramsey at his three Michelin starred restaurant in London where he worked his way up to Chef de Partie.

Later roles took him to the award winning restaurant of The Vineyard and the legendary French Laundry, before moving on to a Head Chef position at Sawyards Restaurant in Storrington. There, after just five months, he secured a Michelin star at the age of twenty-five, making him one of the youngest chefs in Britain to achieve the prestigious accolade - and earning recognition from the Egon Ronay Guide.

Richard became synonymous with Wiltshire's Manor House, taking over in 2007 and winning a Michelin star in 2009.  Frequent diners commented on the steady progress of the restaurant thanks to Richard's determination to constantly improve his food.

In 2017 Richard moved to The Conservatory at Calcot Manor in the Cotswolds, a beautiful country house hotel where he continues to serve incredible samples of British food, with a hefty dose of French influences.
