Robert Auger Brown Bob Brown studied art at Croydon College of Art under the well know artists Fred Dubery and Lionel Bulmer. His range of subjects is as wide as is the scale on which he works, from intimate portrait studies or tiny landscapes to much larger canvases, often of external or interior architectural features.
Two paintings in The Vineyard collection, both of local views, clearly demonstrate the artist’s sympathetic treatment of colour, form and composition, features that make Bob’s work popularly acknowledged through his many exhibitions here and abroad.
He was made a Member of the New English Art Club in 1964 and his work is retained in numerous public and private collections. Chief amongst these are the British Council and Embassy, Athens, the Chinese Embassy, London and the Contemporary Art Society, Wales. Other works are with Unilever Plc. and Warburgs of London.
Though a frequent traveller abroad, Bob lives and has his studio at Hamstead Marshall, Berkshire.
